Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years experience required License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Experience in telemetry and cardiac care - Ability to interpret dysrhythmias - Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy - Knowledge of gastrointestinal and genitourinary care - Ability to manage respiratory therapies Description: The Registered Nurse in the PCU will provide care for patients requiring an intermediate level of care. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:5. Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed. The role involves responding to cardiac drips without titration and managing vasoactive drips without titration. Nurses will be expected to perform medication management, including heparin protocols and blood product administration. Knowledge of neurological assessments, pre/post neurosurgery care, and CVA management is essential. The clinician will be responsible for wound care and managing surgical drains. Critical thinking and the ability to use rapid response teams effectively are necessary skills. Nurses are required to work weekends, with a minimum of 8 weekend shifts in a six-week schedule period.
